Festival of the Niger - Segou

From: January 28 To January 31
Location: Mali

Cousin to the Festival Au Desert, this venue is set on the Niger River in southern Mali. Perhaps for the very reason it hasn't been around as long as the desert music fest, you can expect a much more local, traditional feel as the people of Mali and West Africa share their music, song, dance, and other variety of traditions with the festival attenders. 2009's festival theme was "environmental solutions" and included workshops and craft shows to promote unity among the people.
