Wodaabe Guerewol (Cure Suree) - InGall

From: September 01 To September 30
Location: Niger

A traveling tribe of Western Africa, the Wodaabe are a wandering group of vagabonds. However, every year during the month of September the tribe gathers in the town of InGall to display their beauty and celebrate youthfulness. The men dress up in women's clothes and participate in a beauty contest of sorts for the bragging rights of the title. While there has been some unfortunate controversy over the recent take over of the organizing of the event by the Niger government in hopes to attract tourism, it is still worth making your way to this side of Africa to be a part of this amazing tradition.
