Tapati Rapa Nui - Easter Island

From: February 02 To February 14
Location: Chile

Since 1975 the annual Easter Island festival, known as Tapati Rapa Nui, has exploded into a highly attended event. Originally, the festival was a song and poetry event organized to attract tourists. Today's sophisticated ceremonies have expanded to feature native dance, chant, and song, and competitions such as horse racing, woodcarving, fishing, kai kai (string figures), traditional body decoration, a parade, and a queen contest. The festival has become so popular that it has now been extended into a two-week event.
