Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta - New Mexico

Since it's origin in 1972, the Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta has become the largest hot air balloon festival in the world.  From October 4th-9th, the New Mexican sky is littered with the bright colors and odd shapes of the floating balloons.  With nearly a million people in attendance and thousands of balloons participating, this event is a voyeuristic dream.  With activities scheduled throughout the day, you can choose to be up in the sky, or just watch the afternoon races and the evening "balloon glows" when the light from 300 to 500 tethered balloons covers the sky.
