From: January 25 - 8:00am To February 17 - 5:00pm  In the height of the Japan's glorious winter season, the Lake Shikotsu Hyoto Ice Festival becomes one of Hokkaido's greatest attractions. The preparation for this hyoto matsuri (ice festival) begins construction in November and by January, the massive colored ice structures create a glowing magical atmosphere for the festival goers to wander through. The ice blobs also create a fantastic jungle gym and slide for the kids, ice bars for the parents and some great snapshots for all of us with cameras.
