Boi Bumba - Parintins

Although complicated to get to if you can check out the island in the eastern most part of the Amazon, Ilha Tupinambarana, the city of Parintins will not disappoint.  Centered around a local farce, Bumba-meu-boi, the city attracts tens of thousands of visitors in a stadium that seats 35,000. This competition between two groups, the Garantido and Caprichos (of which the crowd is split), are comprised of dancers, singers and bands. On the third night judges announce a winner between the two.
