Boun Pimai (or Pimai Lao) – Luang Prabang

From: April 13 To April 15
Location: Laos

Believe it or not, this is a belated New Year’s festival. The Lao calendar starts in December, however, this celebration is held off until when the weather begins to heat up and having water thrown on you is a bit more pleasant. And yes, you can expect to get wet! Water is traditionally used to worship Buddha on this day, also seen as a day for meditation and preparing for the upcoming year. This day is also celebrated with parades down the main streets, circle dancing, and Laos folk singing. You will be more than head-over-heels in Laos culture!
