Elamli and Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling Festival

From: June 30 To July 04
Location: Turkey

You know that a festival has stood the test of time when after 600 years it is still being celebrated. In the small town of Elamli just inland of the Turquoise Coast, over 100 Turks come to wrestle to their hearts content while hundreds of their countrymen cheer them on. The twist here is that all wrestlers start at the same time in one main field and wrestle until there is one champion.
