Known as the festival of lights, this five day event is celebrated throughout Nepal and India. Occurring exactly 25 days after Dasain, and carrying similar symbolism to Dussehra, this festival marks the power of light over darkness and challenges the people to be aware of their inner light. Be prepared to witness a beautiful candle lighting ceremony, gift exchange, music and dancing, ornamentation and decoration from the annual blessing and bright fireworks that pierce through the dark sky. This event is also seen to bring in the New Year for the Hindu calender.
