From my mom while looking at my skull and cross bone sneakers:
"You better be careful wearing that pirate symbol because of all that crazy stuff going on with the pirates nowadays."

She was totally serious.

I told her I love pirates. She still looked concerned...more in the worried my daughter will be kidnapped kind of way.
