What you will find in this website is a travel route highlighting the world's biggest and most distinctive festivals. The function of MUP is to create a community of travelers who are at the same place for the same event, by using a forum for the exchange of travel tips, making friendships and keeping in touch well after the festival.

Why Festivals? I chose to attend the largest, wackiest, tackiest, tastiest and most breathtaking international festivals for one simple reason. They are fun!

Many of us do not have the luxury of spending extended periods of time in order to gain comprehensive exposure to a religion, traditional costume, food and music of a single country. A festival provides an intense scoop of the country's entire cultural spectrum all wrapped into one event.

When you arrive for the festivals, the towns are abuzz with a palpable excitement and the people are prepared to proudly display the magnificence of their customs for both local and foreign spectators. It's like going on a tour of the best parties in the world!

My Unbeaten Path was created when two travelers met on a plane and became friends through an exchange of travel stories and tips. We were quickly reminded that many of our past journeys came from another traveler encouraging us to stay there, try this, taste that and boldly venture down that unbeaten path we all search for. There is a common thread that links us while traveling regardless of age, gender, veteran or newbie, we've all come for the same reason: to experience something like never before.

The path I've embarked upon is a one-year itinerary packed with a variety of multi-thematic festivals scattered throughout the world. The purpose is to encourage you to leave the comforts of your home and step onto the global stage where you're guaranteed to be entertained, educated and moved by the exquisiteness we promise you'll encounter.

Similar to a choose your own adventure book, you will be designing your own trip around the main event, but the experiences of getting there and back, the excursions you will take outside of the festivals and the people you meet, will all be completely unique to you. Beautiful things happen when people travel simply because once out of their comfort zone, habits are shed, and eyes and minds are opened. The result, an adventure of a lifetime!
